After establishing her career at Vancouver Coastal Health and gaining extensive experienced in acute care, orthopedics and stroke recovery, Kim decided to help people who needed rehabilitation the most due to their limited mobility. She created Physio2U to help people who needed rehabilitation the most-the ones who have mobility challenges leaving their home. She believes in relationship-centred care and commonly uses manual therapy, exercise and functional retraining to achieve results.
Kim is a strong believer in life-long learning. Through the University of British Columbia, Kim has mentored internationally educated physiotherapists. In 2010, she created a community-based exercise program for people post-op total knee/hip replacements, called JR2, that runs in Richmond BC. In 2023, Kim received the prestigious Doctors of BC Excellence in Health Promotion Award for initiating this impactful program. Kim is an active member of the provincial Arthritis Continuing Education (ACE) Network, National Arthritis Health Professions Association (AHPA), SportMed BC, Physiotherapy Association of BC and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. In April 2016, she was elected to the Board of Directors of the College of Physical Therapists of BC and is currently serving her third term.
Kim practices what she preaches and schedules exercise into her daily routine. Her favourite forms of exercise are running, swimming, stand up paddling and yoga.
Without a doubt, she is an Angel in Disguise! Incredible physiotherapy and hope for things to get better. Your service exceeds all. Thank you again. -Maureen Smith
