Chronic Pain Home Treatment

Chronic pain can have a huge impact on your physical, emotional, and social well-being. Our physiotherapists can meet you where you are to help effectively assess and treat your chronic pain, as well as empower you to manage your condition independently.

How We Treat Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is highly individual and unique to each person, meaning that a one-size-fits-all approach won’t work. We take the time to truly listen to our clients and get to know their daily activities to identify movements or behaviours that may be contributing to their condition. Our process includes:

  • Thorough assessment to determine the cause of pain
  • Manual therapy
  • Dry needling
  • Gentle stretches and exercises
  • Posture and breathing corrections
  • Prescribing mobility equipment
  • Activities to improve walking and balance
  • Education on pain and condition management

What To Expect:

  • The physiotherapist or kinesiologist will come to your home, care home, hospital, office or any other location that is convenient for you.
  • They will ask you questions about your health history and current problem or injury. This should take 10 to 20 minutes.
  • Physiotherapists are licensed healthcare professionals and are legally required to take real-time notes for medical and legal purposes. The therapist will use a computer or tablet to input information into our secure electronic medical records system during your session. The servers for our electronic records system are located in Canada.
  • Please have any doctor’s referral notes, diagnostic imaging reports, or your list of medications handy for appointments.
  • The therapist may need about 4 x 8 feet of space to set up the portable bed to provide a thorough assessment.
  • The therapist will need to put their hands on you. It is a good idea to wear shorts or a sleeveless top to provide the best range of motion for assessment and treatment.
  • The therapist will likely prescribe home exercises and make recommendations to help you feel better. It is important to follow this advice for optimal recovery and progress.
  • The assessment session will last 1 to 1.25 hours. Treatment sessions are 50 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Please note that the time required to conduct requested or necessary communication to doctors, family members, or third parties will be included in your 1-hour session.
