Clyde has always had an interest in science and medicine. As a high-level athlete, Clyde suffered an injury. In working with a physiotherapist to recover, he discovered a personal interest in physiotherapy and pursued it as a career. Clyde has had an impressive career in both sports and physiotherapy. His personal experience in sports includes being a member of the OSU “Giant Killers” Football team and the U of A Football team. He then went on to coach the U of A Football team.
Clyde’s knowledge and skill in physiotherapy is very well-known in the profession and he has worked with many athletes and teams such as: Summer Olympics (1967, 1984 (Chief Therapist) 1992), Pan Am Games (1975, 1983,1995), World Student Games (1973), Vancouver Grizzlies NBA (1995-2001), Vancouver Canucks NHL (1980-1985), Canadian Wrestling Team (1985-1989), Canadian Men’s National Field Hockey Team (1981-1985)and the Canadian National Swim Team (1977-1980).
Clyde is a Founding Principle of the Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Centre, and formally a Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Family Practice, UBC (retired).
Clyde is an avid cyclist and enjoys cycle touring with friends. You will also find Clyde outside working on his yard and spending time with his grandchildren.
